Time : Doors @ 8.00pm
Cost : E10
Booking : 0868784001
Days of week : Thursday
About the event : Ex-Trip Hazard frontman (see myspace/triphazardinc) Dave Conway, releases his debut solo album, Highs and Hellos, aided and abetted by a Trippie or two, as well as a chorus of fine musicians, including Q, Aidan Pierce, Robbie Stanley, Andrew Bass and Dave Horner, to name just, well 5 actually. Recorded as a Tuesday Night Music Club kinda project, none of the musicians heard any of the songs before being locked into the recording room to play their little hearts out. And what a job they did; the album being as fine a rock outing as has been heard in recent years. It will be released in Ireland in July, and a night of celebration in Whelans on July 9th, with an international release date tbc. The Dave Conway Band features Robbie Stanley on Bass and Jean-Philippe Morer on Drums; as well as the Dublin date, there will be a small nationwide tour as well as dates in London and Paris.

Minus Circus : 15th October 2008

Time : Doors @ 8pm
Cost : E12
Booking : 0868784001
Days of week : Wednesday
Reviews : "Minus Circus is the nom de guerre of LA domiciled Irishman Gerry Scullion who trades in impeccably produced pop rock that manages to find a perfect middle ground between the electric and the acoustic. On this EP, the effortless swing of the opening track 'Good Soul/ Bad Soul' the gentle beauty of 'Hide & Seek', the addictive hook of 'Revolve' and the more introspective mood of 'Hold on Tightly' make for four different but equally enjoyable tracks." HOT PRESS - JULY 2008
About the event : A wordsmith in love with the guitar, Gerry's music is a testament to Ireland's rich folk tradition. Match this with a love of the greatest US artists from R.E.M to Sinatra and an EP, 'Hide & Seek' recorded in LA with two highly acclaimed producers - 11-time Grammy winner Rafa Sardina (Alejandro Sanz, Stevie Wonder, Luis Miguel, Macy Gray) and Cheche Alara (Christina Aguilera, Alejandro Sanz, Pink) - and you'll see why Gerry is one of Ireland's hottest musical properties. Focusing on universal themes of love, loss and childhood, 'Hide & Seek' allows Gerry's powerful voice take the lead role and provide the listener with plenty of magic moments.
