Quirky, bubbly Joan walks into a bar in New Orleans. Serious, sullen Darnell is not in the mood to talk. A random encounter between two lost and lonely people sparks this funny, feel-good story of human connection. Set five years after Hurricane Katrina, this endearing one-act comedy fizzes with surprising revelations, sparkling dialogue and heartfelt warmth.

Let this lunchtime charmer transport you to Bourbon Street and, as Joan says,

“Bring out your hidden whatever!”

JACQUELYN REINGOLD is writer on Grace and Frankie, The Good Fight and In Treatment. As well as writing for Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Gabriel Byrne, Hope Davis and Cynthia Nixon, Jacquelyn is the recipient of awards, grants and commissions from the Kennedy Center Fund and the New York Foundation of the Arts among others and has been a finalist for the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.

They Float Up features award-winning actress SUSANNAH DE WRIXON – An Ideal Husband and Pygmalion (Abbey Theatre) – as Joan, and exciting young actor KWAKU FORTUNE – On Raftery’s Hill (Abbey Theatre) and Asking For It (Landmark Productions) – as Darnell.
